About

Timber Ridge Carving Company was begun back in the early 1970’s by Guy Owen.  Guy hand crafted Civil War era muskets that became renowned amongst black powder skirmishers and particularly amongst competition shooters to include repeat national championship teams for the North South Skirmish Association.  His detail to original specifications also made his firearms highly sought after by reenactors and discriminating collectors.  Guys firearms have been used in such famous films as Back to the Future, Glory, and Gettysburg.

Beginning in the 1980’s Timber Ridge Carving Company began to focus exclusively on producing high quality, American walnut, reproduction stocks for a growing inventory of historic military firearms.  By the early 1990’s, the company was producing a full gunstock line servicing military rifles from pre-Revolutionary War flintlock muskets and Kentucky Long Rifles to WWII era Garand and Mauser stocks.  Nonetheless, Guy kept to his roots producing a core line of Civil War era musket stocks.

Today, Timber Ridge Carving is proud to carry on Guy’s tradition and continue to offer a full line of high quality reproduction gunstocks that are 100% made in America, by Americans, with American tools, and American materials.  We still use select, locally harvested and milled straight grain, slow growth, Black Walnut and hand finish all of our stocks.  Further, we now also selectively stock specialty, handmade Appalachian crafts that are unique, one-of-a-kind collectors items.
